Events and Activities

Monthly meetings are held at 7pm on the second Tuesday of the month, September through June, at the Collier Government Center, which is located at the corner of Airport Road and Orange Blossom in Naples, Florida. Informal meetings are held in July and August at other places, which are annouced via newsletter. Upon occasion, we reschedule meetings during the holiday season to avoid heavy traffic.

We also host observing sessions at our dark-sky site for all members and invited guests. These are known as "star parties". If you're thinking of getting a telescope or binoculars, you can get advice from experienced stargazers at these parties. To see how fortunate we are to have this site, go to the Photo Gallery to see club members' photos taken at this site and a photo taken from the Space Shuttle of Florida at night.

Usually the best times to go out to the observing site are moonless nights. On Saturday nights that are likely to draw fellow club members to the site (weather permitting); members will receive an e-mail that afternoon from our viewing coordinator confirming or canceling the event. New members will also receive detailed instructions for reaching our dark sky site upon request.
